REGIONAL SOLID WASTE FACILITIES PROJECT

The 250,000 residents of the Salinas Valley produce 900 tons of garbage per day. And the four landfills where all that trash goes aren't bottomless pits. Depending on a few variables, each will be filled within 5 to 50 years.

Regional Solid Waste Facilities Project EIR The Waste Authority is embarking on a plan to guarantee the Salinas Valley space for its garbage for the next 70 years. The project includes potential expansion of existing facilities at Crazy Horse, Johnson Canyon, and Jolon Road along with new transfer stations in Salinas and King City.

The Waste Authority has prepared an EIR, required by the California environmental Quality Act to disclose to decision-makers and citizenry any potentially significant environmental impacts for the proposed project.
