Multifamily Recycling

Multifamily Recycling Project

Monterey Bay Area Regional Multifamily Recycling Grant was awarded by CalRecycle to a regional partnership made up of local agencies and waste haulers from Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito Counties.  The purpose of grant is to provide convenient beverage container (CRV) recycling for multi-family residents living in the Monterey Bay Area. The grant also includes an education and outreach element which focuses on further waste reduction practices through separating and recycling additional recyclable materials such as paper, metal, glass and plastic, while encompassing all CRV material beverage containers.

In order to determine the recycling needs of each multi-family building, agencies perform initial and follow-up waste assessments at complexes within their jurisdiction. Waste assessments provide important information on waste stream composition that allow the SVSWA to make appropriate recommendations for implementing recycling programs and waste diversion techniques. If you are an owner or property manager please contact the SVSWA to help you set up a recycling program in your apartment complex. Limited infrastructure and outreach materials are available so contact us today!
