FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION CONTACT: SVSWA MASCOT IS LOOKING FOR A NAME March 1, 2005 Residents Urged To Enter The Name The Mascot Contest and Win $100 The Salinas Valley Solid Waste Authority (SVSWA) announced
today the beginning of the "Name Our Mascot" contest. The contest
is open to all residents, children and adults, who would like to help
the Authority name their recycling mascot. Stephen Johnson, general manager
for the Authority noted, "We're expecting it to be a great competition
with entry’s from all over the Salinas Valley." The Authority, formed in 1997, is a joint powers agency made up of
the cities of Gonzales, Greenfield, King City, Salinas, Soledad as well
as the eastern half of unincorporated Monterey County. They promote the
environmental health of the Salinas Valley through planning, public education
and management of an innovative solid waste system. The Authority can
