The Salinas Valley Solid Waste Authority has announced the promotion of staff members Linda English and Elia Zavala, as well as the graduation of staff member Ray Hendricks from the Leadership Salinas Valley program.

Linda English was promoted to the position of Contracts and Grants Administrator. In her new capacity, she will manage the procurement and monitoring of the agency's contracts and grant agreements. Previously, Linda served as the Clerk of the Board and has worked for the Authority for five years.

Elia Zavala was promoted to the position of Clerk of the Board. Her new reonsibilities include the preparation and maintenance of all official records for the Authority's Board of Directors. Formerly Elia was an Administrative
Aide II and has worked for the Authority for one year. Before that she was employed with the City of
King.

Ray Hendricks graduated from Leadership Salinas Valley, a 20-week training program offered by the Salinas
Valley Chamber of Commerce. The program imparts team building and networking skills and prepares participants
to take an active role in their community. Ray is an Administrative Assistant II and has worked for the Authority
for 14 months.
The Authority, formed in 1997, is a joint powers agency made up of the cities of Gonzales, Greenfield, King City, Salinas, and Soledad as well as the eastern half of unincorporated Monterey County. The agency promotes the environmental health of the Salinas Valley through planning, public education and management of an innovative solid waste system emphasizing recycling, energy recovery and state of the art technology.
