HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE IN YOUR HOME AND BUSINESS

Almost every home contains some type of hazardous products that can harm the human health of the environment if improperly handled. These materials are used to clean, home improvement, automobile maintenance, and lawn and garden care.

There is a great potential for injuries due to exposure of hazardous products. Because of these dangers, these products require special handling and proper disposal methods. In order to protect your health and the environment, everyone should know how to properly utilize, store and dispose of household hazardous material.

The Salinas Valley Solid Waste Authority promotes the safe use, storage and disposal of hazardous products by educating consumers to:

  • Identify and avoid potentially hazardous products
  • Buy only what you need and use it up completely.
  • Recycle what can be recycled
  • Dispose of leftover products at the Madison Lane Household Hazardous Waste disposal facility in Salinas or at the local landfills (Crazy Horse, Salinas; Johnson Canyon, Gonzales; and Jolon Road, King City)

The HHW Facility does not accept the following materials:

  • Medical/Biological waste
  • Radioactive material
  • Unidentified Waste
  • Ammunition
  • Explosives
