The purpose of the Advisory Task Force is to consider and recommend potential new sites for a solid waste landfill to serve communities within the Salinas Valley Solid Waste Management Authority's boundaries. The Task Force will not select a particular landfill site or sites, but will be making recommendations to the Authority's Board that certain sites and/or areas be considered for further study and detailed environmental review as part of the required process under the California Environmental Quality Act ("CEQA"). The Authority Board will determine which sites shall be considered as part of the CEQA process. Only after the completion of the CEQA process and public hearings will the Authority Board consider whether to select any particular site for future development as a new landfill.
